Henley Open Water Swimming Club (or HOWSC as it's known to its friends) was formed in 2014 as part of a pilot project that created 2 OPENWATERCLUBS in the Upper Thames area: Henley and Oxford.

The aims of the club are:
  • To give members access to a safe, welcoming and structured approach to getting involved with open water swimming.
  • To target existing, as well as new demographics and introduce them to the benefits of both pool and open water swimming.
  • To encourage competition, friendships, health and fitness and good swimming.
The club aims to be accessible to all “types” of swimmers, from leisure to competitive swimmers.

Everyone has different reasons for swimming and should be encouraged to participate whatever they are.
As one of the best forms of exercise, swimming has been shown to have numerous positive impacts on well-being.

So… whatever your experience or ability there will be something HOWSC can offer you.

The club meets every Saturday morning throughout the year at 07:30 (see Facebook for details).
Come and join us!

See You In The Water!!

AS YOU'RE HERE: The HOWSC website is maintained and run by HOWSC members and relies on voluntary contribtutions.  Do you have something you'd like to share?  Maybe reflections on a recent swim, tales of adventures in far flung places, an account of your watery accomplishments? Photographs, videos, poetry, prose, art and more will all be gratefully received and published on the website for all to admire.  Contact Mark Reed to discuss or submit your contribution.  We look forward to hearing from you.
